About This Course

Welcome to the course Mathematics for Informatics. The most important goal of the course is obtaining mathematical background needed to be succesful in informatics. Moreover it can help in application of mathematical knowledge, in logical thinking and in developing of ability to overview and to recognize essentials. Experience shows that a substantial number of students in higher education has problems with learning mathematics. Subject of this introducing course is discussed in a lighter than usual style. Besides the necessary definitions and theormes, you will find several worked-out examples in the course. The goal of these exercises is to help in understanding, since you can readily check your answer, the way of solution, not only the result. There are self-checked questions at the end of each section.

The course consists of 10 sections. It deals with the following topics: real sequences, real-valued functions of a real variable, differentiation and its applications, vector algebra, matrices, foundations of graph theory, logical operators and propositions. I hope you will enjoy the course.
